Once a lightkeeper’s home.
Now, the cats run the place.

Some houses have a story.
I’m still writing mine here, with the animals by my side.

MY PRIVATE HOME · NO ANIMAL INTAKE

My home,
their home.

noufarm is my private home, shared with the animals already in my care. I cannot accept animals brought to the farm.

Please don’t bring or leave animals here.

HOW NOUFARM BEGAN · MY STORY

I came with three.
The rest found me.

I moved from Cologne to the west coast of Ireland with my three house cats. I didn’t know how many more would find their way here.

Around 2019, sick, injured and unneutered cats began arriving at the old house. So there were trips to the vet in Ballina, neutering appointments, food bowls and warm beds in the house and old stables. I paid for it myself. As the family grew, so did the bills.

In 2024, I began sharing this part of my life and accepting help. Breeding around the house is now under control, but new cats still appear. Today, 29 rescue cats call this place home.

A different kind of keeping watch.— Nou

STORIES I’VE SHARED ON INSTAGRAM

A name. A home. A beginning.

“annnnd another rescue kitten! I need name suggestions for this fluffy one!”

When this fluffy little rescue arrived, I asked for name ideas on Instagram. A new home, and a name still to find.

Daily cuddles, please.

“Jumbo and Tigger requested their daily cuddles 💖”

When I shared this update, Jumbo’s ear was healing after an attack and his stitches were due out soon. Our daily cuddles, apparently, couldn’t wait.

Room for a second chance.

Pops came to me covered in mud, struggling to walk and unable to eat. After veterinary treatment and seven tooth extractions, he could finally eat properly again.

In my update, he had gained weight and was enjoying sunny garden naps and the company of Bella.

FROM MY DOORSTEP TO YOUR SCREEN

First, a safe place.
Then, a little fame.

Jumbo appeared at my door with a deep, open wound on his neck.

I took him in. Surgery at the vet in Ballina and neutering were part of his new start. Today, he has a home with me — and quite a following of his own.

A playful moment with me on Twitch became our little viral hit. Behind the clip is the same cat who once needed me to open the door.

PREVENTING THE NEXT UNWANTED LITTER

Care for today.
Fewer kittens in need tomorrow.

Neutering has been part of how I care for the cats since the first ones arrived.

Neutering prevents unwanted litters and helps limit the growth of unowned cat populations.

The NSPCA describes Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) as a humane way to help community cats: they are safely trapped, neutered and returned after recovery to the familiar area where they live.

Speak to a vet about neutering your own cat. For unowned or feral cats, ask a local vet or experienced TNR group for advice. First check whether a roaming cat has an owner.

Guidance checked October 2026. Please ask locally about availability.

MOMMY & HER FOUR KITTENS

Five lives.
One safe place.

Mommy was abandoned in the village while pregnant. I brought her inside so she and her four kittens could be safe and stay together.

The NSPCA is helping me have all five neutered, so they can settle into a peaceful life here with me.

Thank you to the NSPCA for helping this little family.

ANOTHER FAMILY, FOUND IN THE STABLE

Once a hidden nest.
Now, part of the family.

I found another mother and her babies tucked away in the stable. They have all since been neutered.

These days, they are busy making mischief around noufarm — safe, settled and very much at home.

SOME FRIENDSHIPS ARE A LIFETIME

Twenty-two years.
Still by my side.

Before all these cats, there was Laudi.

Laudatious — Laudi to me — is a Trakehner born in 1999 at Gestüt Nannhofen. His sire is Baluster; his dam’s sire is Polarwind.

He’s 27 now. We’ve been through a lot together: surgery for a cancerous growth by his right eye when he was young, and life with Cushing’s disease.

I give him the care he needs and a place to grow old in peace. He has nothing left to prove to anyone.

THE NEXT CHAPTER · NOVEMBER 2026

And soon, Emily.

Emily is ten and is due to join me from the My Lovely Horse Rescue team in Cork. She cannot be ridden. I want her and Laudi to have a quiet life together; their new wooden barn has been ready since September.

The support I’ve received helped make this shelter possible — a place for Laudi and, soon, Emily.

BUILT TOGETHER · SEPTEMBER 2026

More than a stable.
A place to grow old.

Jimmy, Dan, James, Martin and I built this wooden barn together. The support I’ve received helped us make it happen: a dry, peaceful place where the horses can grow old, side by side.

Built with helping hands. Made possible with support.

KEEP THIS
LITTLE WORLD
GOING.

The everyday care.
The unexpected vet visit.
Care through every season.

I funded the animals’ care myself for years. Since 2024, voluntary support has helped me with veterinary treatment, neutering, food, bedding and shelter for the rescued cats and horses. It also helped me build the new wooden barn.
